Here's an article to help Kiwanis Club publicity chairs in submitting Kiwanis News to the Cal-Nev-Ha Magazine editors, or to local publications.
The Cal-Nev-Ha Magazinehas a section listing the different divisions and usually spotlights one special event/project for that division. Publicity chairs are encouraged to send in information on one of their club's best service projects for this listing. A brief outline of who, what, when, where, and why would be acceptable as the editors like to condense.
Along this same line, get to know who are editors of your local newspapers/magazines . Perhaps a "Meet the Press Day" would be a good program for a Club meeting. Invite representatives from the various local newspapers/magazines and ask them to speak for a few minutes on what constitutes a good press release for their publications.
And lastly, please use the Publicity Handbook that your president received for you at the officers' training workshops held earlier this year. It contains How to Information, Handy Hints, and a nice Q & A section.
Let us know if we can answer any questions, and what publicity coverage is working best for your club.
