Report on Kiwanis International Convention, San Antonio, Texas, 2007

By Mike Tanaka, Lieutenant Governor Elect, 2007-2008:

From July 3 to July 7, 2007, six thousand Kiwanians from around the world convened at the San Antonio Convention Center for our 92nd Annual Kiwanis International Convention.

Thanks to a great planning committee, each day had a well balanced schedule of fellowship, training, inspirational messages, business and fun.  La Donna Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers gave a motivational message at the Fellowship Breakfast.  Many of the Div. 35 attendees went to the Don Strange Ranch for a barbeque/rodeo event on the Fourth of July.  And in the general assembly sessions we heard inspiring challenges from Immediate Past KI President Steve Siemens, present KI President Nelson Tucker, and incoming KI President Dave Curry.  Focus/Seminar Sessions had something for everyone.

Finding anyone in a sea of 6,000 people is pretty difficult.  But I managed to “bump” into Div. 35 Lt. Gov. Rona Lunde, Paul and Cindy White, Vicki and Dan Steffen, Vern Moyer, Robert Ebiner, and Mahmood Bashir.

Dave Curry from Butte, Montana will be our 2007-2008 Kiwanis International President.  He appears to be very capable.  We are very fortunate to have had and continue to have such dedicated people serve in this capacity.
